Work is Over

We're nearly there! 2007 is going to be a year of fun, adventure and general good times and it's just about to all kick off (I hope you all have your globes out and ready!). I've had four days of being jobless now and Simon has also finished work today. He's off to enjoy the cultural sights of Edinburgh for Ned's stag for the weekend (if the plane goes ok in the current wind) and I've plenty more shopping to do before we jet off 18 days from now. Malaysian Borneo is the first stop, working for Raleigh International until the middle of May. And it is going to be work! - Simon has had the post expedition report from the logistics team to read and it sounds pretty hard core. I've also had details of the community projects, one of which I'll be working on - although not finalised until after our in-country training. (Two gravity water feed systems, a school libray and a kindergarten construction - they all sound great although I do fancy the school related ones).

We've been having a good look at the Phillippines / Thailand / Malaysian Peninsula for our two months of chilling and it looks like we'll spend at least the first week of that diving with the other project staff in a fantastic place called Palau Sipadan in Borneo. I plan to take things as they come though and generally head in the direction of Sydney for July time to see Steve and Alex, celebrate Steve's 28th and enjoy some cool winter weather!

We'll update our travelling tales and pictures as often as we can although it's going to be a bit tricky whilst with Raleigh so bear with us and we're not ignoring you! Letters (i.e. writing on a bit of paper and posting) will be our main means of contact and be very welcome. If nothing else remember that Simon gets to act as the postman driving round Borneo in his Land Rover delivering the post! I'll find out the address and put it up FYI.
